Abstract #

In this talk, I will describe some of our current projects on using Internet of Things (IoT) to tackle a range of applications that address timely societal problems including environment, climate and health. The talk will start with an overview of IoT, its components and building technologies.

Dave Cavalcanti

Katia Obraczka is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at UC Santa Cruz. Her research focuses on data communication networks (wired and wireless), their protocols and applications. Prof. Obraczka and her lab, the Internetworking Research Group (i-NRG), conduct research on designing, developing and deploying protocol architectures motivated by the internets of the future including the Internet, datacenter networks, wireless networks, IoT and edge networks. She has been a PI and a co-PI in a number of projects sponsored by government agencies (e.g., NSF, DARPA, NASA, ARO, DoE, AFOSR) as well as industry (e.g., Cisco, Google, Nokia). She is a Fellow of the IEEE and has received the Santander Chair of Excellence 2020-2021 award and is currently the INRIA International Chair 2021-2025.
