This seminar will explore how end user bandwidth capacity and latency affects the quality of end user application experiences. It will explore the history behind the focus on bandwidth and the emergence of latency as the key factor affecting application quality.

Jason Livingood is Vice President of Technology Policy, Product & Standards at Comcast, where he leads Internet technology strategy, standards development (IETF, CableLabs, etc.), and global R&D initiatives. With over two decades of experience, he has directed the architecture and engineering of Comcast’s Internet and communications platforms, including large-scale deployments of IPv6, DNSSEC, DOCSIS 3.0, FTTH, and congestion management systems. He also oversees the Comcast Innovation Fund, advancing university research and driving new concepts such as ultra-low latency networking and next-generation broadband services.
